Full Tour Description
We start our Krakow walking tour off in the heart of Krakow’s beautiful Old Town, just a few minutes walk from Europe’s biggest Medieval market square. From here we’ll set out to discover some of Krakow’s most famous sights including St Mary’s Basilica (outside only), Cloth Hall, Rynek, Town Hall, Jagiellonian University and the Franciscan Church.
Your guide will be sure to give you an introduction to Poland’s history and rich culture. And we’ll bring the city to life for you with tales of the characters that have made Krakow and Poland the majestic places they are today. For those keen to get off the beaten track a little we’ll explore the winding cobblestone streets of Krakow’s Old Town, which contain hidden gems and lesser-known attractions.
Next, we’ll head down to the bohemian Kazimierz district. Here we’ll learn all about Krakow’s Jewish community and how it’s changed throughout the city’s history. You’ll see the oldest synagogue, the Old Jewish Cemetery and Remu’s Synagogue (all sights outside only). You’ll learn how the contributions made by the Jews from this area have contributed so much to the city as it stands today. At this point, we’ll stop at a cafe for a refreshment break where you’ll taste some delicious local specialities.
For the final leg of the Krakow walking tour, we’ll climb the slope up to Krakow’s Castle area – the Wawel. Here you’ll hear the legend of the dragon and become acquainted with the most important Royals from Poland’s history. You’ll hear how they made Krakow the city it is today and get a sneak peek into the grand palace courtyards, the castle and the cathedral (outside only) and finish your tour with a view of Krakow and the River Vistula.
